A conversation with Jean-Paul Gaultier in advance of his new exhition "La Planète Mode De Jean-Paul Gaultier" in Montreal:
"After the revolution of the "Women's Lib", women burned their bras, says the designer. Me, I wanted to show that they could seize the classic trappings of seduction without being victims of male desire", says Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Inevitably, the most powerful among them is Madonna, who personified the sexual revolution in corset-shells during her "Blond Ambition Tour" in 1990.

Madonna herself, interviewed as part of the show by Thierry Maxime Loriot, says:

W.E Private Screening: Insider's Report!
"Last night, I had the pleasure to attend a screening of W.E. Madonna’s directorial feature debut. The film tells two parallel love stories seperated by almost 6 decades. Most notably the story of American born Wallis Simpson who would later become the Duchess of Windsor after her lover King Edward VIII would step down from his short lived run as Kind of England in order to marry and live out the romance of a century with the woman he loved. Wallis Simpson has been portrayed as one of the most vilified characters in England’s history. However, W.E. tells the story from Wallis’s point of view for the first time.
Madonna, who does not appear in the film, exceeded my expectations with this romantic, tender and intimate story. The cinematography was breathtaking at moments and the casting was fantastic. Still, I had little need for the parallel modern day story of the main character, Wally Winthrop, who finds herself suddenly connected to Wallis and her love story. I felt Madonna’s portrayal of the Duchess was so artfully done that the added modern story line only complicated and mutled a thrilling tale told for the first time.
The music was beautiful although there were blatant references to the Wong Kar Wai formula so beautifully executed in In the Mood for Love. All said and done, I sat entirely engaged for the entire 2 hour film... so there you have it."

Kate Middleton Wears Same Dress As Madonna!
The Duchess of Cambridge took a cue from pop royalty for her latest fashion statement. Us Weekly has the first Stateside snap at the 29-year-old's ensemble at a Sunday dinner at the Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire.
Prince William's bride wore a salmon-pink satin dress by British designer (and rock scion) Stella McCartney.
If the girly dress seems familiar, that's because none other than Madonna wore the exact same frock three years ago -- at a May 2008 amFAR event at the Cannes Film Festival. (The Queen of Pop, 53, has long been a close pal of designer McCartney; when she wore that particular McCartney dress, Madonna was just months away from divorcing British hubby Guy Richie.)
Princess Catherine chose the number to help wrap up Prince Philip's 90th birthday celebration; she joined her husband, his royal cousins Princesses Beatrice, Eugenie, Queen Elizabeth and others for a sumptuous meal at Waterside, one of the country's most acclaimed and expensive eateries.

Madonna - More Positive Buzz About Her New Film W.E.
Madonna showed it "TWC" first, probably because Harvey Weinstein released her "Truth or Dare" documentary twenty years ago. And the people who saw it, including Harvey and Bob, loved it.
This is also what was said:
"It’s smart and thoughtful, and incredibly stylish. A performance by Andrea Riseborough that’s Oscar worthy. I don’t know how the f*** she [Madonna] did it. It’s an art picture, there’s no question about it. It’s a picture for women. Bob and Harvey really loved it. This is a lot like Tom Ford’s directing of "A Single Man". We were impressed with her. Everyone’s been talking about her in the house for two weeks. She’s gotten it all up there on the screen. It’s hard to tell a good story. She managed to do it."
Sources say that they know there will be skepticism, but that once people see "W.E." they’ll get it.
The sales price, by the way, is said to be less than $5 million. More likely in the $4 million range.
