MADONNA is praying constantly for Molly Meldrum as the rock guru remains in a coma.
"He is a one and only," Madonna told the Sunday Herald Sun.
"I've always adored Molly and I'm praying around the clock."
She said Meldrum had been an inspiration throughout her career.
As Meldrum rests in intensive care in The Alfred hospital, still listed as critical, popular singer Michael Buble added his heartfelt best wishes to a global outpouring of support.
Crooner Buble urged his friend to "fight back" from his injuries.
"I was devastated to hear about Molly's accident," he said.
"My family and I are praying for him."
It is understood Madonna, Buble and Cher have sent flowers to Meldrum.
It is also believed Sir Elton John, one of Meldrum's closest friends, is travelling and may not know about the accident.
Sources close to John, who visited Meldrum last week while on tour, said the singer would be crushed by the news.
Relatives face an anxious wait as the extent of Meldrum's brain injury after a fall on Thursday becomes apparent.
Meldrum crushed his skull and punctured his lung when he fell in the backyard of his Richmond home while putting up Christmas decorations.
His brother Brian said he was optimistic about Meldrum's outlook.
"I spoke to the surgeon this morning and, as he stated it, it's a waiting game," Brian said.
"Until the pressure starts to drop in his brain they can't make an assessment about how it is.
"It's slow, but everything is going to plan."
His manager and long-time friend Mark Klemens said only immediate family and friends were permitted to see him.
"He is still critical," Mr Klemens said.
"It's horrible, it's very upsetting."
Meldrum has been fitted with a neck brace and remained unconscious in hospital.
Long-time friend Dean Fingh said he had spoken to Meldrum only a week before the fall.
"We talked and he told me to take care of myself," Mr Fingh said.
"Now he's in need of a lot of care. I'm very worried."
Another friend chose not to see Meldrum in the hospital when he heard he was still comatose, saying it would be too upsetting.
A source close to the family said Meldrum's dog Ziggy remained at the home where the accident happened and displayed a sombre mood.
Doctors are monitoring the pressure in Meldrum's brain and are confident it will gradually ease.
