Liberty Ross Talks About Her Role In Madonna's W.E.!

LIBERTY ROSS' film debut sees her appear in Madonna's new film, W.E, and according to the model herself - the singer couldn't have been more inspiring.
"She has such a strong vision," Ross told us. "Her whole career has been about looks and drive. As a director she was just brilliant. She knew exactly what she wanted. There are so many things to be decided when you're directing something - I'd be hopeless, there are so many choices. She worked incredibly hard."
Set in the Thirties, the film focuses on Edward VIII's abdication and affair with Wallis Simpson, and also stars Andrea Riseborough, Abbie Cornish and James D'Archy. Ross plays the sister of one of the King's mistresses.
"This film was the first audition I went up for," explained Ross. "My manager in LA put me forward for it, and I sent a tape of myself over to Madonna - and she was thrilled. I flew over to meet her and got the role. It was amazing. I was so excited because of the period it was set, both my grannies were from the Thirties, so I've always been very intrigued and inspired by that time. I loved seeing how it was for them."
Ross is currently working on two new films, a new version of Snow White with Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron, and a short film directed by Sam Taylor-Wood.
"Acting has always been something I've wanted to get into," Ross said. "I think the best models are actors, you're taking on a character. In that sense, I have been acting for a long time. It didn't seem like a crazy transition. Acting is a bigger step into modelling in a way. Modelling is easier when you don't look like yourself. When you look like a different person, you feel different. Acting goes deeper into that, you have to move and talk like that character. I love it."
The two-time Vogue cover girl says her new foray into film doesn't signify the end of her modelling career.
"A combination of the two would be great," she said. "I don't think I have to pick one or the other - they're not two completely different jobs. I just want to make sure I make the most of any opportunity that comes my way."

Madonna is not ashamed in Washington D.C.

Four Andy Warhol and Keith Haring's Madonna artworks from 1985 - including their iconic "I'm Not Ashamed" - will be on display at the The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. from Sunday, September 25 as part of "Warhol: Headlines", the first exhibition to fully examine the works that Andy Warhol created on the theme of news headlines.

Running from from September 25, 2011, to January 2, 2012. Warhol: Headlines will define and present some 80 works - paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculpture, film, video, and television - based largely on the tabloid news, revealing the artist's career-long obsession with the sensational side of contemporary media.

Source materials for the art will be presented for comparison, demonstrating the ways in which Warhol cropped, altered, obscured, and reoriented the original texts and images, underscoring his role as both editor and author.

After Washington, the exhibition will be on view at the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Germany (February 11May 13, 2012); Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna, Rome, Italy (June 11September 9, 2012); and The Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, USA (October 14, 2012January 6, 2013).

Nightlife Exchange Project open auditions in London this Friday!

The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project competition will kick-off in Great Britain on Friday, September 23rd, it has been announced.

Smirnoff are teaming up with well known Pineapple Dance Studios to host open audition filming this Friday between 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Pineapple Dance Studios, 7 Langley Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JA.

Whether its krumping, salsa, pointe, pop and locking, or lyrical, dancers are invited to put their skills to the test for the ultimate prize.

For those hopefuls unable to make the open audition filming, aspiring dancers are encouraged to upload a 60-second video of their most original routine by October 10 to be selected for one of the ten spots at the November live auditions. Entrants must be 21 years old and over.

Madonna will attend the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project event in New York City on November 12 - the event will include the search to find the most unique, and innovative dancer who performs in front of Madonna and her long-time choreographers, Rich + Tone.
