Last week "Rolling Stone" asked their readers to vote for their favorite dance song of all time.
Since you can dance to a lot of different music, they decided to keep things open-ended in terms of genre, which resulted in a fairly diverse set of songs that would nevertheless sound perfectly natural played back to back at a party.
Among the selection of winning songs:
5. Madonna, "Vogue":
As with Michael Jackson, Madonna has so many top-shelf dance hits that her placement on this list suffered somewhat from vote-splitting. ("Into the Groove" just narrowly missed the Top 10, FYI.)
Still, if only one Madonna hit could make this list, "Vogue" was an excellent choice.
On top of being one of her signature hits, its music video – as well as this live performance (below) at the "1990 MTV Video Music Awards" – features some of her most iconic dance moves.
