Kevin Smith: “I Took the Lesson from Madonna”
Kevin Patrick Smith is an American screenwriter, actor, film producer, and director, as well as a popular comic book writer, author, comedian and internet radio personality best recognized by viewers as Silent Bob.
His films include “Clerks”, “Chasing Amy”, “Dogma”, “Cop Out”, and the horror film “Red State”.
When asked by Dazed Digital website if he’s consciously been changing his film style, he mentions Madonna as a reference.
He said…
“It’s weird to say this, but I took the lesson from Madonna of all people.
For years I’ve been watching this chick, she changes every two years, she would change everything you knew about her.
She’s material Girl, now she’s wearing bullet bras, now she’s vogue, now she’s British.
It’s important, because if you’re going to create art, you got to engage the audience, and as an artist you got to give them shit they don’t expect every once in a while.”
