NEWS: “SOONER OR LATER” ONE OF THE AWESOME ACADEMY-AWARDS MUSIC MOMENTS ACCORDING TO BILLBOARD
At the ’91 Oscars, Billy Crystal introduced Madonna’s performance of the “Dick Tracy” song “Sooner or Later” as “the NC-17 portion of our really big show.” Turns out the number wasn’t nearly as risqué as some of Madonna’s other award-show routines, but as usual, she commanded everyone’s attention with a sultry, full-stage romp. Donning a Marilyn Monroe-inspired gown, fur boa, gleaming baubles and bleached-blonde curls, Madonna gave a performance that took us back to the glamorous days of old Hollywood.

Madonna tops list of music earners while Lady Gaga goes missing!!
February 23rd, 2013 by Jemuel DaSilva
The real Queen of the Universe
Yesterday, Billboard came up with its list of the top money-making musical acts of 2012 and Madonna, like usual, came out on top. This is because of her hugely successful MDNA Tour, which we rated the best concert tour of 2012. Bruce Springsteen, another veteran, came in at number 2. But where was Lady Gaga, the self-proclaimed Queen of the Universe?
It turns out that Mother Monster didn't even make the list. Lady Gaga seems to sit back while her fans bully other artists, but it doesn't seem to be helping her career. When cancelling her recent tour, Billboard noted that she had to refund approximately 200,000 tickets for 22 shows. That means she sold an average of about 9,100 tickets for each show. The venues she plays in have a capacity of 15,000 or more. Billboard tried to spin the shows as "almost completely sold out," but industry insiders, even one who actually works for Billboard, tell us that this is far from the truth.
Madonna is believed to be taking a long deserved break this year, although we hear that a soundtrack song will be released. We also hear that a tour of Australia, Africa, and Asia, with a few sprinkled dates in the United States, is being planned for 2014. Madonna may not be viewed as "hip" as some other artists, but she still rules the planet as evidenced by Billboard's latest list.

LONDON READY FOR A “WALK OF FAME” …with MADONNA!
CAMDEN TOWN is to get a Hollywood-style walk of fame, which will honour pop music greats linked with the area such as Pink Floyd, Oasis and Amy Winehouse.
Endorsed by the Los Angeles movie-star original, Camden’s will honour music’s greatest performers with a bronze and stone disc, presumably to mimic a vinyl record, set in the pavement. Each disc is set to cost about £500.
Those chosen will be split into different groups: influential artists; innovative artists; unsung heroes; industry types. After a committee has come up with a shortlist, we all get the chance to vote on the Music Walk of Fame’s website.
The shortlist hasn’t been decided yet, but hints have been dropped that among those in the first tranche will be Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, The Doors, Marc Bolan, The Move, Cream, Hawkwind, Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass, Suede, Madonna, Radiohead and Public Enemy.
The list is to be announced in May.

Madonna's Statement On Mark Kamins!
“In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Madonna writes: “I’m very sorry to hear about Marks death. I haven’t seen him for years but if it weren’t for him, I might not have had a singing career. He was the first DJ to play my demos before I had a record deal. He believed in me before anyone else did. . I owe him a lot. May he Rest in Peace.”

Madonna's BF Reveals Their Valentine's Day Plans
FEBRUARY 13, 2013
Madonna's boyfriend, dancer/model Brahim Zaibat, walked the runway at Wednesday's Jeremy Scott Fall 2013 fashion show at New York Fashion Week, where he revealed to ET his Valentine's Day plans with his girlfriend of two years.
"Go out, have dinner or something like this, watch a movie -- like everybody else," he said. "Valentine's Day for me is every day. There is no one day for love. If you love, it's every day."
So who's the more romantic of the two?
"Both of us. Equal -- we are equal," he laughed. "Give her love every day I think is the most romantic. There is nothing more romantic than giving love every day I think."

Madonna - LGBT History Month Hero!
To celebrate LGBT History Month, 2013, Polari is publishing a daily series of LGBT Heroes, selected by the magazine’s team of writers and special contributors.
Madonna – Musician
By Nick Smith
My love affair with Madonna began in 1985 when I bought ‘Holiday’ on 7″ vinyl. I was immediately drawn in by the sound and the persona of an ambitious, unique and cocky young woman. Arriving in New York City with $35 in her pocket in 1978, Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone started on a journey that would revolutionize the music industry and catalyze debates about the changing nature of sexuality. Madonna finally broke into the mainstream during a vibrant time in New York City with Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf at the fore of the creative and political spirit. Such verve was cruelly juxtaposed with the peak of the AIDS epidemic. She saw how it ravaged many of her friends and how the gay community became ostracized because of it. As the ‘80s rolled on and people became more educated concerning HIV and AIDS, Madonna harnessed her influence to bring these issues to the forefront. In 1989 she orchestrated an AIDS Dance-A-Thon. Following that, the first New York date of her Blond Ambition World Tour was a benefit concert in Keith Haring’s memory, and she donated all proceeds to AmFAR and AIDS Project Los Angeles. The tour courted controversy and in Rome, the Vatican was outraged at her line, “Hey you don’t be silly, put a rubber on your willy!” during a spoken part of ‘Into The Groove’. She addressed the Vatican by stating “The tour in no way hurts anybody’s sentiments. It’s for open minds and gets them to see sexuality in a different way. Their own and others.” This speech was also featured in her film In Bed With Madonna which also documented a gay pride march and in which where she gives “Keith Haring” a heartfelt tribute. At her peak, Madonna used sexually charged imagery in her music videos, such as ‘Vogue’ and ‘Justify My Love’. She famously had a spat with music producer David Foster concerning her use of two men kissing in an image: “Two men kissing should be looked at as normal! You represent everything I’m trying to change!” Her much maligned Sex book contains much homoerotic imagery and sexual ambiguity. The savagely underrated album Erotica features some of Madonna’s most sincere and heartbreaking lyrics, including the championing-equality stomper ‘Why’s It So Hard?’ as well as a sincere tribute to her gay founding fathers on ‘In This Life’. Madonna is a trailblazer, and made it possible for artists such as Lady Gaga to follow in her path. She has always been an advocate for our views, our society and our right to be ourselves. Her critics disdain the use of homoerotic imagery or starving children at her concerts, but lap up her ideas like her “Rock The Vote” campaign. On their terms, such controversy is palatable. Yet for me, her message remains the same: believe in yourself and fight for what you believe in. Throughout her career, Madonna has always challenged convention and she continues to highlight and challenge injustice. Last year, she was the first major artist to challenge homophobic Russian legislation by providing all concertgoers with pink wristbands to wear at her gig in St. Petersburg to show support for gay rights. She further fanned the flames by championing the Pussy Riot cause and calling for the incarcerated members to be released. This lady is not for turning.

Madonna has wonderful instinct as Director!
Andrea Riseborough – who played Wallis Simpson in the singers first full length motion picture, romantic drama W.E. – praised her directorial efforts, insisting that the Girl Gone Wild star is as comfortable behind the lens as she is in the recording studio.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she explained: She was 100% professional. Working with her was a very natural rhythm for me in the sense that she wanted to always capture a moment at its best. Whichever moment we were dealing with emotionally, she always thought to express it in an interesting and truthful way.
She has wonderful instinct and thats valuable.
And she has an extraordinary eye.
The 31-year-old actress admitted she was in awe of Madonnas dedication to the project, which depicts the love story between King Edward VII, who abdicated the throne in order to be with American divorcee Wallis.
She said: She worked on the project for 10 years and it was such a passion project for her. Really, I think everything is a passion project for her because she is very dedicated about what she does and so enthusiastic about it.
Andrea is nominated for the EE Rising Star Award at the 2013 British Academy Film Awards, alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Suraj Sharma, Juno Temple and Alicia Vikander.
Voting is now open to the public at ee.co.uk/bafta and the winner will be announced at the BAFTA ceremony on Sunday February 10, 2013.

Dolce & Gabbana Talk Madonna!
Madonna is mentioned by the Milanese fashion duo in a new interview published yesterday by Italian daily Corriere Della Sera's weekly supplement SETTE, as they recall how their friendship came about at the beginning of the 90s and how much she was instrumental in putting them on the map, globally.
Do you owe your big breakthrough to Madonna?
STEFANO GABBANA Yes. To her. She has helped us to become who we are today.
DOMENICO DOLCE We had all her records. We had gone to see her perform in Torino and other locations. We would say to each other: just imagine if one day she chose to wear one of our creations? Three months later we saw a picture of her published on The Herald Tribune. She was at a Jean Paul Gaultier party in Paris wearing a black crochet sweater inspired by Italian’s southern tradition. We couldn’t believe it
Did you then try to contact her?
GABBANA She came to us. We had a little room in New York we would use as a PR office which a Vietnamese boy was in charge of. Madonna’s assistant got in touch and said she was going to appear at the premiere of her film Truth or Dare and that she would have loved a bodice encrusted with coloured stones, a man’s jacket and thigh-highs. She showed up at the New York Truth or Dare event and the next thing you know she was featured on every single major international publication, next to a photo of one of our catwalk shows. That shot of hers was literally everywhere globally.
DOLCE Then the movie came out and one of our friends who works as a restorer at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art called us to let us know that in the American trailer of the movie there was a scene in which a beaming Madonna says something like: “ See I get what I want *snaps finger*, I wanted a Dolce and Gabbana shirt and Warren immediately got it for me”. We just couldn’t believe it. We thought he was pulling a prank on us. When the movie opened in Milan we were the last to go and watch it, frightened at the idea that they were all in fact just poking fun
But that line was actually there ...
DOLCE Yes and it just so happened that after months of seeing her wearing our clothes we finally asked her out for dinner.
Who made the phone call? Stefano or Domenico?
DOLCE No we just wrote to her. What we actually did was to dictate a letter to somebody who then translated it for us. What kind of language could have we used on the phone? At least when you’re physically with the person you can overcome the language barrier through hand gestures, but on the phone?
Finally dinner in New York ….
GABBANA Restaurant on the 17th between 7th and 8th. I was sweating badly due to the emotional situation. My idol! Luckily you could still smoke in restaurants back then and I smoked a cigarette after the other
DOLCE To start off she subjected us to the Proust Questionnaire. She wanted to know everything about us. She was instantly crazy for us and we were immediately crazy for her. We ended up on the dance floor and then we went to her apartment
How did you communicate with her?
DOLCE Gesticulating. But she does speak a little bit of Italian, luckily. She loves Neorealism and she is used to watching the old films in the original language. Visconti, Pasolini, Rossellini. She just knows everything. She’s such an extraordinary woman. Still to this very day, after all these years, you just can’t help but feel in awe of her presence. She’s a type of person you constantly find yourself learning new things from.
She is shrewd, cultured and she knows everything about Italy. She is very Italian. But when it comes to business she’s American to the marrow. She ‘s got such a drive and an incredible determination. She was born three days apart from me in August 1958, has sold 300m albums, she’s had everything from life, yet when you see her rehearse a dance routine with her choreographer, she’s just there listening, paying attention, obeying and staying in line like a disciplined student. Humble. Terrific.
How is she as a client?
GABBANA The ideal client. Very clear ideas.
If she wants something she will also specify the colour tonality.
